For our September 18th meeting, Jerry Oltion will give a slide show illustrating what we can look forward to in the autumn sky over the next few months. He’ll cover sights for naked eye, binoculars, and telescopes, many with illustrations from our own astrophotographers. This meeting will also feature a slide show of the last month’s astrophotography, and we’ll be giving away another Astroscan telescope. This is the next-to-last one, so come put your name in the hat! (The meeting is open to everyone, but the drawing is only open to dues-paid club members.)
Speaking of dues, Dues are now due! Our dues year starts October 1st, so this is the last meeting to get your payment in and stay up to date. Dues are still the same low $25 they’ve been for years. We accept cash, checks made out to Eugene Astronomical Society, or PayPal to eugeneastroboard@gmail.com. PayPal users, choose “Friends and Family” option or add $1 to cover fees. Let us know in the comments section who the dues are for! PayPal only reports email addresses. Everyone: please provide any updated contact information along with your dues. Note that joining the email list does not make you a member of the club. You must fill out an application and pay your dues in order to be a member in good standing.
The meeting starts at 7:00 on Thursday the 18th at the Eugene Science Center planetarium. Rumor has it that both ends of Leo Harris Parkway (the road leading to the Science Center) are open again.
