Monthly Meeting: Telescope Workshop – Get your scope tuned up for summer! – Thursday April 20, 2023 – 7:00 pm

April 20, 2023 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Our April 20th meeting will focus on tuning up your telescope for the summer observing season. The sky will (theoretically) start opening up soon, so it’s time to dust off your scope and make sure it’s ready for those great spring and summer nights out under the stars. Our meeting will start off with a showing of “Two Small Pieces of Glass, The Amazing Telescope,” an exploration of how telescopes work (created by the European Southern Observatory), followed by a talk on collimation — the aligning of a telescope’s optics — by our own Jerry Oltion. After Jerry’s talk people will have the opportunity to gain hands-on practice at collimating a real telescope, and club members will be standing by to assist anyone who brings a telescope in for a tune-up.

We meet in the Eugene Science Center planetarium at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 20th. If you need a hand tuning up your telescope, bring it along!
