Solar eclipse party April 8th

April 8 @ 10:30 am - 12:30 pm

The big solar eclipse of April 8th won’t be total here in Eugene, but we’ll still get a 35% bite taken out of the Sun. If the sky is clear enough to see the Sun, EAS members will be at the College Hill Reservoir (24th and Lawrence) with safe filtered solar telescopes to view the partial eclipse. Come join us and have a peek as the Moon slides across the face of the Sun.

No part of this eclipse will be safe to view without proper solar filters. Sunglasses aren’t enough. Use only certified safe solar viewing filters. Doing otherwise will risk permanent eye damage. So come view the eclipse through our equipment that’s designed for the purpose. We will have safe solar shades available for purchase as well.

The eclipse starts at 10:30 a.m. Maximum eclipse is at 11:23, and the eclipse ends at 12:18. Come join us for this rare event!
