TELESCOPE
LENDING PROGRAM Eugene Astronomical Society owns a fine collection of
telescopes. Two small refractors are in the collection. One is a computerized
Meade on an Alt/Az mount. The other is on an equatorial mount. Both afford a
beginner a good opportunity to experience scopes in this price range. Also by
Meade is a 4.5" Newtonian, equatorial mount with a tripod. This is the smallest
"mirror" in the EAS collection and represents another type of "first scope"
many people purchase. I would encourage "beginner" members to check out any of
these scopes to "try before you buy". In our Dobsonian collection, the club
owns four scopes with 10" and 12" mirrors. All scopes are loaned to members
only and come with the expectation that the borrower will assume responsibility
for the scope and bring it to club functions.
